This means more content to consume from as many devices. Star India has recently announced its launch of Cloud TV service in India and will put all its content on the cloud. Airtel’s on-demand movies is subscription based, though it is very economically priced which even competes or is better than buying a pirated DVD’s from the street hawker. Airtel has partnered with BigFlix to bring movies on-demand to Airtel’s broadband subscribers. Not to to be outdone by Google, Yahoo has launched its movie streaming service. One can watch the movie in the comfort of the home without the hassles of getting a ticket and commuting to and from the movie theater. It has a dedicated channel called boxoffice where it streams one full movie per month. YouTube was the pioneer in making broadband India’s new multiplex. Distributors of the new multiplex are not PVR, Big Cinemas or Fame but Yahoo, Google, Airtel and Reliance. Unlike the traditional multiplexes, this will be a multiplex at the closest available screen. Since its foundation in 2000, Sofia Digital has served for example operator, broadcaster and device manufacturer customers in over 35 countries.India is on the verge of finding a new multiplex. Sofia Digital focuses on open standard interactive platforms, such as IPTV and HbbTV as well as digital signage. Sofia Digital is an internationally recognized provider of interactive video and TV solutions, bringing new value-adding services to different TV terminals utilizing new digital technologies. The Enhanced EPG has been deployed earlier for example in Finland, Estonia, Hungary and Turkey – giving direct access to catch-up services and, for example, promotional trailers depending on the market. This allows users to utilize their existing HbbTV 1.5 compatible receivers or DELTA’s HbbTV compatible Set-top Box to access the CloudTV content that’s now going to be integrated into the linear EPG application, to offer seamless TV viewing experience between linear TV broadcast and OTT video service. Sofia Digital’s Enhanced EPG application and cloud TV client has been integrated with the Booxmedia’s CloudTV-Everywhere service. The service will extensively use Booxmedia’s end-to-end technology that handles everything from media ingest and back-office applications, to secure delivery of the content to all different devices that are suitable for Internet video streaming. In addition to the HbbTV support, the new service will allow DELTA customers to also use their OTT devices to enjoy the advanced features of Booxmedia’s Cloud TV-Everywhere Suite that include live stream programs, catch-up libraries, network PVR and Booxmedia’s “start-over-to-live” feature that allows users to watch ongoing live stream broadcasts from the beginning. With Sofia Digital applications, viewers with an HbbTV receiver and a DELTA account can browse the Enhanced EPG through a convenient interface, to schedule future program recordings and start watching past programs from the cloud. As part of the project Sofia Digital will deliver HbbTV support for DELTA’s multiscreen solution. Finnish pioneer of interactive television Sofia Digital together with the Finnish technology company Booxmedia have announced a contract with Dutch utilities and digital services company DELTA, to provide, install and maintain a new end-to-end multiscreen cloud TV solution, using Booxmedia’s white label platform and products.
